Our idea for this transformation included a 'floating corner', maximising the view to the garden. By working closely with the engineers, it allowed us to come up with a solution which enabled the bi-fold doors to fold away from the corner, omitting the requirement for a structural post/pier to support the steel beam over the doors. The proposal included a cantilevered beam, transferring the loads to the existing/proposed walls and foundations.

Lambeth Council are renowned for challenging planning applications that infill the dogtooth pattern housing and they generally do not permit full 'wrap-around' extensions. We therefore came up with a solution which maximised the footprint achievable through extending to the side and rear.
